Editor, the Advocate:
In an editorial on the Jan. 7 Victoria Advocate Viewpoints page, "He could be your son or your brother," the author talks about a young man, Tyler Shelton, from Victoria who has mental health issues and the struggles of his parents and himself involving a mental health crisis.
A few years ago, an author by the name of Pete Earley spoke at Victoria College about his book, "Crazy: A Father's Search Through America's Mental Health Madness," about the problems he and his wife went through with their son who had mental illness. He talked about our messed up mental health system.
A change needs to be made.
Tyler Shelton needs help. We worry so much about animals, but what about the humans?
