Runge athletic director and head football coach Kyle Blalock resigned Thursday after two seasons.
Blalock said in a text message he did not wish to comment at this time on his resignation.
Blalock came to Runge from Pearland Dawson, where he had been an assistant football coach and head basketball coach since 2008.
He has also coached at Tyler Chapel Hill and Whitehouse.
Blalock had an overall record of 4-17 at Runge.
After going 1-9 and 0-5 in District 15-2A, Division II in 2016, the Yellowjackets went 3-8 and 2-3 in district last season.
Runge qualified for the bi-district playoffs and lost to Woodsboro.
The school district has begun advertising for Blalock's replacement on its website.
There is no deadline listed for applications.
"This is a small town and would require a person who has small town knowledge and values for the position," the job description states. "The kids are great and need a high character individual to lead them further down the road of success."
