Jaguars picked to win RRAC

The UHV softball team is picked to win the Red River Athletic Conference title this season, according to a poll release Tuesday.

The Jaguars received five first-place votes and 77 points in the 2018 RRAC Softball Preseason Poll to edge out three-time defending champion LSU-Alexandria for the top spot. LSUA received four first-place votes and 71 points.

Voting was conducted by the nine head coaches in the conference and points calculated through a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format.

Athletic scholarship fundraiser a success

A large and energetic crowd was on hand Friday night to help support the UHV student-athletes at the "A Night for the Jaguars" fundraising event at Club Westerner.

Through the support and generosity of those in attendance the UHV athletic department was able to raise around $25,000 for scholarships for UHV student-athletes.
