Capital One, 7602 N. Navarro St., will close at 6 p.m. June 23.
"The decision to close our branch in Victoria was difficult and one that our bank leaders did not take lightly," said Amanda Landers, Capital One spokeswoman. "We recognize the effect that this decision will have on our customers and associates."
The decision was based on long-term cost, real estate and customer needs of the local market, Landers said. It is not a result of individual associate or organizational performance.
Bank customers were notified via email in March, Landers said.
"We've been encouraging them to give us a call or stop by before the branch closes to ask us any questions," she said.
Capital One associates can show customers how to continue banking with the bank online. After the branch closes, the closest Capital One will be in Wharton or Columbus, Landers said.
The company is also helping its local associates through the transition. As well as receiving career transition support, they're eligible to receive severance packages, including retraining assistance and outplacement services, she said.
