Christina Galvan Carter was honored at a luncheon Oct. 11 as a recipient of the Business Journal Women's Leadership Award for 2013. As one of the 18 women honored, she was chosen from a pool of more than 100 nominees. Carter is the operations and key account manager for Minor Fleet Management Group in San Antonio. She is a 1996 graduate of Bloomington High School and is the daughter of Rudy and Gloria Galvan, of Bloomington.

Sandy McNeely, an assistant clinical professor in the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing, was recently named co-chairwoman of the Nurse Family Partnership Community Advisory Board in Fort Bend, Galveston and Harris counties. Nurse Family Partnership is an evidence-based, nurse home-visitation program that provides education and support to first-time, low-income parents. McNeely has served on the advisory board since 2011.

Janey Lack, of Victoria, is the new chairwoman of the board of directors of the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan. She was instated at the board meeting Oct. 4 and will serve for two years as chairwoman. During her career, Lack was vice president of advertising and marketing for Lacks Stores, a retail furniture chain in Texas with 39 stores. Her history of service includes three terms on the Victoria City Council in an at-large position.
