3 Woods BBQ on S.W. Moody St.

3 Woods BBQ opened last week at the former location of Limon’s BBQ.

A new barbecue restaurant is now at the location where a well-known business previously carved up the Texas fare.

3 Woods BBQ, on Southwest Moody Street, has sold out of food every day since it opened last week. The restaurant is owned by Christina M. Garza, who could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

George Garcia, who ate at the location when it was Limon’s BBQ, said he’s excited for barbecue to be served there again.

Garcia went to eat at the restaurant in its first few days of operation and said the taste was phenomenal and portions were generous.

“I know good barbecue because I barbecue myself,” Garcia said. “As long as the food is consistent the way it has been, they’ll always have me as a customer.”

Two Limon’s BBQ locations, a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 3502 Houston Highway and a food truck at 8404 Navarro St., closed in 2018 after their owner, Lupe Limon, racked up a debt of $133,571.16 in unpaid sales taxes, according to a spokesman for the Texas comptroller. Those taxes have not been paid, the spokesman said.

The third location of Limon’s BBQ, where 3 Woods BBQ is now, closed not long afterward.
