Christ the Victor Lutheran Church, 202 Stanly St., will observe “God’s Work, Our Hands,” an annual event of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Saturday morning, in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the United States.

It was Sept. 4, 1917, and a group of young men stood on the steps of the Lavaca County Courthouse, waiting for H.J. Braunig to set up his equipment for a photograph. These young men were going to war and Braunig’s photo captured a unique moment in history.

The Victoria County Genealogical Society held a Family Tree DNA seminar. Janine Cloud, Group Projects Manager explained the reason for DNA testing in genealogy research. She described what results could be expected from different tests that could be done.
