Benefit barbecue to defray medical expenses

A benefit barbecue and auction for Lilo Arguellez to help defray medical expenses will be 11 am.-4 p.m. Sunday at Irma’s Ballroom. The auction and a raffle will be at 3 p.m. Plates are $10 each and include chicken, sausage, rice and beans. Live entertainment will be provided by Calma, Anaya and Joel Nava. Stroman orchestra

to host bake sale

The Stroman Middle School orchestra will host a bake sale Sunday to raise money for its Halloween concert. Baked goods can be purchased 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Victoria East High School, 4103 E. Mockingbird Lane.

Club Westerner to host Designer Purse Bingo

The 2019 Designer Purse Bingo event will be 5-9 p.m. Monday at the Club Westerner Dance Hall, 1005 W. Constitution St. Doors will open at 5 p.m., food service begins at 5:30 p.m. and bingo games begin at 6:30 p.m. The prize of each game is a designer purse. Admission is $40-$45. With admission, you will receive two drink tickets good for soft drinks, wine and beer. Additional drinks may be purchased. There will be food available throughout the evening. An array of door prizes will be given out throughout the evening, and there will be a silent auction. Purchase tickets online at There will be a limited number of tickets available at the door.

Workshop to educate on music business program

A workshop on the Music Friendly Communities Program is planned for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Greek’s 205 Bar on Constitution Street.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning about the new Texas Music Office program that seeks to foster music business economic development in Texas cities and communities.

Brendon Anthony, director of the Texas Music Office within the Texas Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism Division, will be present to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions.

Lone Star Animal Hospital marks 15 years

Lone Star Animal Hospital, 13788 US Highway 77 N., will celebrate its 15-year anniversary with an open house 11 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday.

Clients are invited to stop by the open house for food, fun, educational material, raffles, swag bags and more.
