A Victoria man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on warrants charging him with eight crimes related to sexual assault and abuse of a child.
Ruben Gonzales Mendoza, 50, was arrested on warrants charging him with two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years old, two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure.
Detectives from the Victoria Police Department served an arrest warrant to Mendoza about 1:30 p.m. at a business in the 100 block of Aloe Road, according to a news release from Senior Officer David Brogger, a spokesman for the department. U.S. marshals assisted with the arrest, he said.
Mendoza remains in custody at the Victoria County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 surety bond.
Brogger said the arrest was the result of an investigation by the Victoria Police Department. Anyone with more information regarding Mendoza should contact Detective Christina Tate at 361-485-3741.
