”Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
I went fishing on Warrior’s Weekend when the soldiers were fishing with volunteer anglers.
As one of the Warriors walked off, I heard him say he had been through wars and rumors of wars but he had never as much excitement as he did when he climbed into the volunteer’s boat to go fishing. He had caught some very large trout and was describing how he landed each one of them.
Then, he turned to the captain of the boat and said that this is what he and his buddies had fought for: the freedom to be able to enjoy a fishing trip with people who wanted to share their fishing experiences with others.
I realized when I had left the pier that I was singing a song I love so much: “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Dear Lord, Thank You for letting me be born in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
