Eric Holguin

Eric Holguin, a former Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress in Texas, plans to run for a seat in the Texas House to represent Corpus Christi.

Holguin hopes to challenge State Rep. Todd Hunter, a Republican and longtime member of the Texas House. Hunter represents the eastern portion of Nueces County.

Holguin challenged U.S. Rep Michael Cloud, a Victoria Republican, in November 2018 to represent District 27 in the U.S. House of Representatives. Holguin trailed Cloud in that race by 23 percentage points. District 27 covers all or some of 13 counties in South Texas, including Victoria and Corpus Christi.

The 2020 elections are of particular importance in Texas and across the country because of the political boundaries that will be redrawn after the 2020 Census. If Democrats are able to take control of the Texas House, they’ll have a seat at the table when it comes to redrawing the state’s political map based on the latest population data.

I was impressed that Eric took the time to listen and interact with voters when he ran for the US Seat. He'd be a great addition to the Texas House.
