CUERO

June 14

Cattle on hand: 1,281

Had 123 cows and 15 bulls. The packer market was fully steady maintaining last week’s rise. Numbers remain small while demand is strong. Some cows are over-fat from ideal spring grass and as a result are discounted.

The calf market was mixed with the lighter end of calves being up $1 to $3 on the tops while the heavier bull calves and heifers were off as much as $5. Steers above 450 pounds were only off from $1 to $4. Weak live cattle futures and corn crop uncertainty contributed to weakness in heavier calves.
