Cattle on hand: 1,089

Had 162 cows and 28 bulls. The packer market was fully steady with the last couple of weeks. Numbers remain small and demand strong.

The calf market was steady across the board. Only discounts were in lower end of bull and plainer type calves. Otherwise last week’s levels were maintained. Tops on light to mid-weight steers and heifers were $2 to $4 higher.

Packer bulls: All weights, $70-$88.

Packer cows: Canners and cutters, $50-$64; light and weak, $34-$49.

Palpated: 11 bred cows: $70-$84; pairs (three): $720-$1,100.

Compared to last week: The market this week was steady in some areas but mostly $2 to $3 lower. Overall a very active sale considering negative impact from higher corn and lower fat cattle market.

Packer cows and bulls sold $1 higher with the exception of fat breaker cows which were $4 lower.

Packer cows: Canner and cutter cows, $84-$63; utility and fat cows, $43-$59; light weight canner cows, $37-$48; poor and weak cows, $32-$40.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, $80-$87; utility and cutter bulls, $73-$82; light weight canner bulls, $65-$74.
