CUERO

May 17

Cattle on hand: 1,503

Had 190 cows and 32 bulls. Packer market was stronger by $2 on bulls and $4 on cows compared to last week. Good numbers so a good test of the market.

The calf market continued to be strong despite lower feeder and fat cattle markets. Demand is very strong on calves with condition. Fleshier new crop calves are subject to being discounted due to their lack of condition. Overall a much better market than anticipated given the decline in fat cattle.
