The Coast Guard responded to a report of a snake bite near Espiritu Santo Bay about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Watch standers at the station in Corpus Christi received a report that a 57-year-old mariner had been bitten by a snake while mooring his boat for the night, according to a news release from the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard stationed in Port O’Connor arrived on the scene in a 29-foot boat and transferred the mariner to emergency medical services personnel awaiting him at The Sanctuary at Costa Grande near Port O’Connor.

The mariner was reported to be in stable condition, according to the news release.
