Why honored: Frank Diaz, who works for Victoria Solid Waste Department, is my Everyday Hero. My chest freezer stopped working and left me with a great deal of ruined food. It was garbage pick up day, but my gray can was completely full. I asked Mr. Diaz if I could pay him to help me dispose of the spoiled food. He told me that his son is a cancer survivor and asked me to donate to cancer research instead. He cheerfully helped me reload my can, re-emptied it, shook my hand, told me how much he likes helping people and drove away with a huge smile.
