Everyday Hero

Joel Gomez

Joel Gomez

• Occupation: Victoria firefighter and paramedic

• Hometown: Victoria

• Why honored: Joel Gomez is a firefighter and paramedic for the city of Victoria. He has been with the Victoria Fire Department for 22 years and a total of 29 years including his time with EMS. Joel began his career as an EMT, then progressed to paramedic and then joined the Victoria EMS in 1993. He has donated countless hours to his local Little League as a coach and as an onsite medic when he obtained his certification. Joel has also volunteered his time for the Southwest Region tournament as head of health and safety for the past 29 years. His dedication also shows by his participation in the 9/11 Memorial Climb in San Antonio for the fallen service workers in New York for the past three years, climbing the Tower of the Americas. For his selflessness, I nominate my husband, Joel Gomez, for Everyday Hero.
