Store to donate percentage of sales to mosque

About 400 people gather in front of the Victoria Islamic Center for a community service. The mosque burned down early Jan. 28.

Bethune and Son will donate 30 percent of its sales Friday and Saturday to benefit the Victoria Islamic Center, which burned down Jan. 28.

The upscale casual men's clothing store opened to the public in December. The 30 percent contribution applies to all sales of merchandise and will run during store hours.

Store manager Dominic Cavazos summarized the staff's feelings and said, "Our heart aches for the community. It really hurts to see some of our friends directly affected by this. We wanted to do something to help our friends and help the community come out stronger than it was before."

The store will announce the total donation on their Facebook page after the weekend's fundraiser.
