Nearly 4,000 AEP Texas customers lost power in Edna and Ganado about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in what appeared to be transmission equipment failure, said Vee Strauss, an AEP spokeswoman.
All power was restored in Ganado by 3:15 p.m., but power was not restored to about 2,930 customers in Edna until about 7:15 p.m., after a temporary restoration, Strauss said.
The power was momentarily restored in Edna about 3:50 p.m. before going out again at 4:30 p.m., she said. AEP Texas has dispatch staff that monitor the operation at all hours of the day.
The exact cause of the outages is still being assessed by AEP crews. Strauss said customers’ patients and endurance in the hot, summer heat was appreciated while they worked to return power.
