The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Bloomington area until further notice as the Guadalupe River levels rise after recent rain.

Tyler Castillo, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, said the river levels are rising after flooding across the Hill Country since Monday evening.

“All that water is going to travel down the river basins into the Guadalupe,” Castillo said.

A moderate flood warning has been issued for the area of the Guadalupe River near Bloomington, he said. The river was recorded at 18.46 at 8 p.m. Tuesday and is forecast to crest at 24 feet this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Castillo said river levels are expected to slowly drop after Saturday.
