Two Victoria men were arrested Wednesday on allegations of sexual assault of a child.

Michael Ruiz, 31, of Victoria, was arrested in the 2300 block of North Liberty Street on a warrant charging him with continuous sexual assault of a child, according to a news release from Officer David Brogger, a spokesman for the Victoria Police Department.

Joshua Cervantes, 20, of Victoria, was arrested in the 2900 block of East Airline Road on a warrant charging him with sexual assault of a child, according to the news release.

Both arrest warrants were served by the Victoria Police Department in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service, Brogger said. The cases, however, are being investigated by the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Ruiz and Cervantes were booked into the Victoria County Jail and remained in custody Wednesday evening, each in lieu of a $50,000 surety bond.
