JANET J. MCCOY

DACOSTA - Janet J. McCoy, 86, passed away peacefully at Vitality Court in Victoria, Texas on December 31, 2017. She was born on May 7, 1931 in DaCosta, Texas to Willie Anna and (Cecil) Ray Jacobs. She was the eldest of two children and is preceded in death by her husband, Richard McCoy, her parents and her beloved brother William (Cookie) Jacobs.

Janet had a rich and full life. She was blessed with a good husband and they shared a long life together. They owned and operated a farm in DaCosta, raising cows and crops. They were regular bowlers and played couples dominoes frequently.

So much of Janet's life centered around her two nieces, Wanda Novosad and Judy Cheatham. Janet spent every weekend with them during their childhood and they formed a loving bond that lasted a lifetime.

Janet was a compassionate person who loved animals. Over the years she rescued many cats and dogs that needed a forever home. She was an avid gardener and shared her prized vegetables with her friends and neighbors. Her passion was playing dominoes and she rarely turned down an invitation to play. She loved baseball and old time country music.

When Janet first needed care at home, she was blessed to have two very special and wonderful caregivers, Carrie Sanders and Rosa Vallejo. They were drawn to her kind heart and gentle soul. She made them laugh and cry. She loved them dearly.

Janet is survived by her nieces Linda McCleary of Ann Arbor, MI, Wanda Novosad of Port Lavaca, TX, and Judy Cheatham of Spring Branch, TX, her great nephew, Chris McCleary of Ann Arbor, MI, her cousin Gerald (Jerry) Jacobs of Leander, TX and her sister-in-law Rose Marie Jacobs of Victoria, TX. She leaves behind many caring relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Grace Funeral Home with funeral service to be at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
