KAREN MAE MACHA
VICTORIA - Karen Mae Macha passed away Wednesday, January 10th. She was born May 14th, 1932 in Victoria, Texas to the late William and Anita Diebel Gerhold. Karen is now celebrating in the presence of the Lord with Melvin and many loved ones.
Karen spent most of her life in Victoria. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She and her husband, Melvin traveled extensively. Karen also loved the outdoors, especially fishing in Port O'Connor. One of her favorite activities was watching her grandsons grow-up and play baseball. Karen was an avid reader and loved her Crossword puzzles. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends. Karen especially enjoyed her time with her sister, Diane and her family. In her younger years she loved to bowl and dance with her constant companion and husband, Melvin. Karen volunteered for 11 years at Citizens Medical Center. Karen was an honorary member of Holy Family Altar Society along with being a Charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She will be missed.
Karen is survived by 3 children, Mike Macha and wife Peggy, Cindy Hanson and husband Chris, and Randy Macha all from Port O'Connor; 6 grandchildren (who fondly called her Meme), Erick and wife Lauren, Daniel and wife Robin, Matt Friemel, Jake Friemel and wife, Ashley, Molly Olson and husband Chase and Willy Macha; and 6 great grandchildren, Cate, Ava and Grant Macha, Owen and GiGi Olson and Ally Macha; her brother, Harlon Gerhold and wife EJ, and her sister Diane Seifert and husband Al, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Melvin F. Macha.
Visitation will be at 12:30 pm Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria with a Rosary to be recited at 1:30 pm. Mass will follow at 2 pm. The family will have a private burial.
