MARIA ELENA SANDOVAL VICTORIA - Maria Elena Sandoval, 65, a native Texan, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, July 10th, 2019. Family and friends will gather for visitation and rosary, Sunday, July 14th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy. in Victoria, the rosary will be prayed at 7:00PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00AM, Monday, July 15th at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 208 W. River in Victoria. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Maria will be laid to rest beside her beloved daughter, Sandra Lee Sandoval. Pallbearers will be, Jose Villarreal, Juan Villarreal, Miguel Villarreal, Jr., Victor Pompa Sandoval, Victor Mireles and Jimmy Vega. Honorary pallbearer is Mario Campos. Maria was born June 17th, 1954 in Port Lavaca, Texas to Miguel, Sr. and Olivia Partida Villarreal. Maria married her love, Abundio Pompa Sandoval, July 17th, 1984. Maria worked for over 28 years for VISD as a teacher's aide, assisting with special needs children. She had a passion for mentoring and encouraging people of all ages with special needs. Maria served for numerous years as a coach for "Victoria Shining Stars Special Olympics". Helping the kids and adults to reach for their goals and to have fun. She also volunteered her time with "Victoria Association for Citizens with Disabilities". Maria enjoyed gardening, crafts, she was an animal lover and writing. She even wrote her own short story book. Maria was preceded in death by her daughter in 2013, Sandra Lee Sandoval; twin siblings; four sisters-in-law; and 1 brother-in-law. Maria leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 35 years, Abundio "Slim" Pompa Sandoval; her parents, Miguel and Olivia Villarreal, Sr.; 11 siblings, Miguel, Jr., Alice, Patricia, John, Alfredo, Frances, Jessie and Frank; brother-in-law, Victor; sister-in-law, Mary; her beloved dog, Penny; numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, special friends and her beloved students. Maria's beautiful heart and compassionate soul will be deeply missed by many.
