PAUL EDWIN COUTANT INEZ - Paul Edwin Coutant, 65, died peacefully in his sleep Monday, July 1, 2019. He was born in Washington, D.C. on August 27, 1953 to the late Chester Arthur Coutant of Kingston, NY, and the late Laura Jean Delahay of Corsicana, TX. He is survived by a step-brother, Edward Coutant, in FL, and a niece, Ann Delahay, in NV. After graduating from Tivy High School in Kerrville, TX, he briefly attended the University of North Texas, Denton, and Texas Christian University, Ft Worth. Acquiring an interest in Opera, he moved to New York City, NY, where he joined AGMA and sang in the New York City Metropolitan Opera Company as an extra. Employed at the time at Tower Records he broadened his acquaintance of the big names at the MOC to include those performing up and down Broadway. Returning to Texas after the death of his mother, he lived with long time friend, Russell Franklin, working with him at Franklin Pipe Organs. Paul loved to sing and shared his Tenor voice with the Victoria Bach Festival, the Master Choral, Victoria College Choir European Tours, the Madrigal Singers, Temple B'Nai Israel, Victoria Summer Musical Repertoire Company, the Point Theater of Ingram, First Presbyterian Church of New York City, and First Presbyterian and First Christian Churches of Victoria. Under the guidance of Dr Rebecca Dawson, he launched a second career by giving voice lessons to high school students of the area, many of whom went on to win state voice competition medals. Paul loved large dogs, large operas, and large pizzas. Funeral arrangements pending.
