Hello. My name is Zach Smith, and I am running for City Council Super District 6. I have been a mortgage banker for 15 years. I am married with one daughter. I currently serve on Theatre Victoria Board of Governors, and the Board at Victoria Rotary. I am a small business owner, and I also serve on the VISD Task Force. As a member of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, I attend all ribbon cuttings for our great city. It’s time our elected officials also attend.

I vow as a future city council member to be your voice. I will be present when we welcome in the new businesses to our community. I want to serve you. I will be a great steward to our city, sustaining Victoria’s identity while embracing innovation and change. It would be an honor and privilege to serve my community.

While working with the new city manager, I am for lowering taxes and reducing the strain on taxpayers. We have to lower our property taxes/valuations. The city and county need to join forces to tackle this issue to make sure we stabilize prices. We must create better benefits for our first responders and city employees. We need to attract and retain our future workforce of young professionals and young trade workers.

One of my main priorities is improving the financial position with the city, which requires extensive review of current budget line items.

Managing debt properly is something I’m very aware of because of my years of working with people’s finances to help create their dream of home ownership. VISD needs multiple entrance/exit points at East, West and Cade. I want to work with the district to make this a priority.

As a young professional on our city council, I am poised to bridge all generations to improve our financial positions for the community.

Thanks for your support, and don’t forget to Vote Zach Smith for city council.
