Editor, the Advocate:

I read with interest the Victoria Advocate's story on Monday, Dec. 4, "County Weighs Suing Opioid Manufacturers," by Marina Starleaf Riker.

I, Dorothy Geraldine Wilson, was not born yesterday. If I live until Nov. 29, 2018, I will be 90 years old. I took hydrocodone-acetaminophen for over two years, until I received a letter from the prescription painkiller manufacturers advising I should have my liver checked. Once I did, I was then cut off from taking it. I am now taking tramadol tablets.

I did witness my uncle kill himself from drinking so much beer. Beer destroyed his liver. I also saw my sister-in-law kill herself by smoking tobacco. It destroyed her lungs.

Tell me what is worse - beer, tobacco or opioids?

Dorothy Geraldine Wilson, Seadrift
