Thumbs-Up, Thumbs-Down

Thumbs-up to the Texas Game Wardens, Jon Kocian and Trey Kram, who took care of the alligator on Main Streer and got it back to his natural habitat. Thank you!

LaVerne, Victoria

Thumbs-up to the first responders who came quickly to my home. Those two young men saved my life. I was mowing my yard and was attacked by a swarm of killer bees. I was able to call 911 before I lost consciousness. At the hospital, Dr. McNeill removed 216 stingers from my head, back and arms.

Rex, Telferner

Thumbs-up to the very caring and friendly staff at the Crossroads Bank on E. Airline Road. They treat you as “family,” make you feel “welcome” as you walk through the front door and “thank you” for being their customer.

Alton, Victoria

Thumbs-down to all the so-called news networks. They shouldn’t be able to use the word “news” in their call letters. More appropriate would be something like: CGASP – Continuous Government And Sensationalized Programming. Or WHAY – We Have Analysts Year-round. Or TOOSH – There’s Only One Story Here.

Ray, Victoria

From the Advocate Editorial Board

Thumbs-up to the Museum of the Coastal Bend for sponsoring a Beginner Science camp for kids.

Thumbs-up to a Victoria resident’s brother for receiving his fifth Tony award. Peter McNally’s brother, Terrence McNally, received an honorary award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre at the 2019 Tony Awards.

Thumbs-up to all the competitors in the “World’s Toughest Canoe Race,” the Texas Water Safari. The grueling race is 260 miles from San Marcos to Seadrift.

Thumbs-up to the Victoria Business and Education Coalition for sponsoring a youth leadership conference at Victoria College.
