Thumbs-up to Dale’s Fun Center for hosting a bike blessing to kick off summer riding June 1 for the Christian Motorcycle Association Gulf Coast Riders for Christ – Victoria Chapter. It is a free event and open to the public.

Thumbs-up to new locally owned businesses Caveman Printing, Absolute Bliss, Clean Plate and My Back Porch Boutique that offer a wide variety of services to Victoria.

Thumbs-up to Alexa Valenzuela who took her place among Refugio’s track and field royalty by winning a career 13 medals with 11 gold, one silver and one bronze.

Thumbs-up to Rowland Elementary School students for participating in the school’s first living wax museum. Students delivered information about their selected figures to parents, staff and fellow students.

Thumbs-up to Warrior’s Weekend for bringing in hundreds of wounded military veterans for a weekend of fun. The nonprofit wants veterans to know their service and sacrifices are not forgotten.

Thumbs-up to all the Crossroads peace officers for their devotion and sacrifices. The officers were honored at a National Peace Officers Memorial Day ceremony.


Thumbs-down to companies in Victoria that sell roofing materials but refuse to stand behind the products or offer any support to a customer who purchased the shingles in good faith and now has a claim within the warranty period. Irritation is noted.

Thumbs-down to when doctors and hospitals, etc., get a diagnosis wrong; why does the patient have to pay those bills? Is this unjust?
