Thumbs-Up, Thumbs-Down

Thumbs-up to the Cuero Gobblers and fans.

William, Meyersville

Thumbs-up to H-E-B and their staff and all the great volunteers that pulled the feast off another year. I, along with our group preparing the plates in the back, can see how well organized the event is now. The entertainment was great and, of course, our Gary Moses is always a good host, and if you don’t know him, you will. He’s everywhere.

Tommy, Victoria

Thumbs-up to the good ol’ days of handwritten notes and letters.

After the passing of former President Bush, news coverage included many of the letters he wrote to his family, friends and staff over decades. They will surely be treasured.

It’s sad that millennials (+/- a generation) don’t always think to keep in touch with grandparents and other family members, even though they have the means to do it in seconds with no stationery, fountain pen, stamps and trip to the post office necessary.

Donna, Victoria

Thumbs-up to the Advocate for the wonderful article on Bill Alexander. And thank you, Bill, for choosing Victoria and Channel 25 for your home.

Your weather reports are always informative and well done.

I appreciate having you on the news team for our local TV station. And enjoy your humor.

Janet, Victoria

From the Advocate Editorial Board

Thumbs-up to Angel Lucy’s funeral home for teaching children to pay it forward with their toy giveaway.

Thumbs-up to national trends showing that charitable giving is on the rise.

Thumbs-up to the Victoria Public Library for hosting the Gingerbread House Workshop. The workshop provides affordable family entertainment during the holidays and has been in operation for “at least 15 years.”

Thumbs-up to O-Fish-All Business and Honor 361 for providing Christmas meals and presents to 10 families this year.

Thumbs-up to Texas Seafood for serving between 200 and 300 meals to the homeless with the help of volunteers and donors on Christmas Day.

Thumbs-down to those unprosecuted, illegal immorals that sit in high places that are sworn to uphold the keeping of all laws of this land by the fairness of truth, and don’t.

Judy, Edna
