Ander-Wezer Volunteer Fire Department worker Justin Stauss looks back at the blackened ground after he and about 47 other volunteer firefighters from seven agencies extinguished a grassfire on a property off of Highway 119 in Weesatche on Saturday. Goliad Volunteer Fire Department Chief Alonzo Morales said the fire burned between 75 to 100 acres and took less than an hour to extinguish. It is believed it originated from embers from the previous night when the landowner's son started a controlled brushfire.
