Food Bank

Pablo Linares, with the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, talks with Karen Hable while making a delivery to Christ’s Kitchen on Oct. 30. The food bank distributes food to more than 88 food pantries, kitchens, churches and other providers in the Crossroads.

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent will pause most of its operations for 10 days because four staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, the nonprofit said Thursday.

The food bank is the region’s primary provider of both fresh and shelf-stable foods to more than 88 food pantries, kitchens, and other emergency meal providers in the Crossroads. As the COVID-19 pandemic has caused hunger to surge locally and nationwide, the food bank distributed 52% more food compared to the previous year, said Robin Cadle, the nonprofit’s CEO.
