Generic police tape

A Seadrift man died after his motorcycle hit a pickup truck in Calhoun County Saturday evening.

The crash occurred six miles northeast of Seadrift on SH 185, said Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Richard Luna, 63, was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle southwest on SH 185, following a 2017 Ford F-250 towing a 2015 boat trailer.

The pickup truck was slowing down and attempting to turn left on Lane Road, when Luna, failing to control his speed, veered left to avoid the truck, said San Miguel. He struck the side of the boat trailer, continued until he hit the back left of the truck, and then crashed into the ditch on the westside of the highway.

Luna was transported by helicopter to Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi Shoreline in Corpus Christi, where he was pronounced dead at 7:14 p.m.

Tracy Allen, 55, of Freeport, the driver of the pickup truck, was not injured in the crash.

San Miguel said the crash investigation is ongoing.
