VISD board meeting

Victoria school board members discuss HB 3 goals during a special meeting on Tuesday.

The Victoria school board approved its state-mandated district goals for the coming five years on Tuesday.

Board members approved 6-1 their HB 3 goals, which includes increasing third grade reading and math STARR scores by 10% and increasing college, career or military readiness requirements from 51.9% to 75% by August 2024.

“I think this is a great challenge for the district and I think we are up to the task,” Superintendent Quintin Shepherd said.
