I am the managing editor for the Victoria Advocate. I have been with the paper since April 1, 1985, starting as a general assignments reporter. I then worked specific beats including police and courts and education. I worked as a bureau reporter for almost 10 years in the Cuero bureau before promoting up to regional editor in June 2000. In July 2005, I was promoted to city editor, which is now known as local editor. I promoted to managing editor on Aug. 30, 2014. I live in Yoakum with my husband Gary Cooper. We have two dogs, border collie mixes, named Timex and Rolex - yep, they are watch dogs. I'm a graduate of Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos with a BS in journalism and a minor in sociology.
